In-depth guide: Seferi for LTL transport
Why are LTL requests hard?
An LTL job rarely arrives neatly in one email. Dimensions are on one line, weight on another; the pallet count is in the attachment and the stacking note sits under the signature. The planner first moves this into an Excel sheet, then into a costing sheet, then into the truck list. Every copy is a chance to mistype a number, and the mistake usually shows up only when the load is on the truck.
The real difficulty is not one job but how jobs fit together. When five customers' loads going the same way on the same day are handled through five emails and five calculations, the truck either leaves half empty or a load waits until tomorrow. For a business that sells floor space, a half-empty truck is the lost profit itself.
Your email inside Seferi, read by AI
In Seferi you read your email without opening Outlook or Gmail, in the familiar three-column layout. Seferi's AI reads every incoming load request on its own: it separates origin and destination, and each load's dimensions, weight and count. If stacking is unclear in the email, it asks you; it does not guess.
The parsed request reaches the costing screen in one click. You do not retype anything; a missing field stays flagged on screen and you can create a ready reply draft to ask the customer. When the customer answers, the request is completed in the same place.
Loading metres, cost and price in one second
Seferi works out loading metres from the load's dimensions, adds up the truck's cost items (fuel, tolls, driver, depreciation, maintenance) and applies your margin to produce the sale price. What is left for you is to look at the figure and approve. Once you approve, the quote message for the customer is drafted too; you read it, edit if needed and send it.
If you want to see how loading metres are calculated, our loading metre calculator shows the same formula step by step; it is the same function used in the product. Cost items come from the figures you enter, so the price rests on your own business's reality.
Smart Planning: loads going the same way share a truck
In the evening you review tomorrow's jobs with one click. Smart Planning groups loads that go the same way and whose pickups are close to each other into the same truck, shows the fill rate for each truck and suggests the plate nearest to the pickup. It also says why it suggests that truck: same destination, pickups close by.
The plan changes nothing until you approve it. When you press Approve Plan the plates are written to the jobs; you can remove a suggestion you do not like and recalculate the plan. So the morning starts without debating which truck picks up what.
Grouping does not look at direction alone; it weighs each truck's weight limit and loading metres together and never forces a load that does not fit. If you want to change one job's plate by hand, the truck list opens in the row: available trucks are scored by distance and capacity, with the best fit on top. The final word always belongs to the planner.
Drivers see their job in the app and report status themselves
Drivers see today's job in the Seferi mobile app: customer, route, loading and delivery steps. When they arrive at the loading point, set off, reach the delivery point and start unloading, they report the status in the app themselves. You see these steps on the planning screen at once; there is no need to call and ask.
At the loading and delivery points the delivery note and proof of delivery are added in the app with a photo, and the document is attached to the job. Nobody in the office copies a document from one place to another, and nobody opens folders at month end looking for paperwork.
One table instead of five Excel files
At most companies LTL operations are tracked across several Excel files: requests, quotes, truck plan, tracking and invoicing. Seferi brings all of them into one platform. Your habits stay too: you type into cells, filter, sort, and select several jobs to act on them at once.
The orders screen is grouped by the person responsible, and each group's job count and amount show in its header. Rows show plate and driver, pickup and delivery point, count and dimensions side by side. If you are moving from Excel-based transport tracking, you import your file and carry on in the same layout.
Revenue, cost and profit without waiting for month end
The management report shows the whole month on one screen: revenue, total cost and profit; which quotes were approved, which jobs ran at a loss; jobs missing a price, plate or cost. A job with missing data does not inflate the headline figure; it waits in a separate list and joins the figure once complete.
When a job is finished, the invoicing data is passed to Logo or Siber without being retyped. Your accounting software issues the invoice; Seferi carries the data it needs. So information entered in operations is never typed a second time in accounting.
Frequently asked questions
Related pages
How does warehouse LTL differ from LTL in Seferi?
In warehouse LTL the load enters a warehouse and travels on two separate trucks. Seferi tracks this as a two-plate transfer: the receiving and the delivering truck sit on the same job, and transfers appear in their own tab.
What happens if dimensions are missing from the email?
Seferi flags the missing field and does not guess. You can create a ready reply draft to ask the customer or enter the information yourself.
Does Smart Planning stack pallets?
No. Planning groups loads by truck capacity and loading metres and counts every pallet as a single layer. Stacking is your and your driver's decision.
How is the U-ETDS notification made?
The U-ETDS notification is made from the trip record in Seferi. Details are on our U-ETDS page.
